Warning Scam Alert!

If someone calls you and tells you that they've sold your property and you do not recognize the name of their company, BEWARE !

DO NOT Send Them Any Money!

Resort Timeshare Resales, has received reports about a group of scam artists who are preying on timeshare owners. A number of timeshare owners around the country have reported getting phone calls from people claiming to have sold their weeks for them. These scam artists then use the following techniques:

The caller states that they need money for title insurance. The timeshare owner is told that he must FedEx a check immediately, and after doing so, he can deduct the cost of the FedEx package from the sale. After receiving the money, the caller sends the timeshare owner a contract. This contract looks very official. When the sale date arrives, the victims find that the company's toll-free number has been disconnected.

Another scenario: The buyer states that he is purchasing timeshare weeks for the executives of a large, nationally known company. Once again, the timeshare owner is urged to send in a check right away in order to be guaranteed a "spot." This "spot " is a reservation for the large company to purchase their week instead of someone else's.

The callers are knowledgeable about prices and excellent at creating a sense of urgency. In their rush to guarantee a sale or a "spot" on some phony list, they were taken-in and subsequently lost their money. As it turned out, North Carolina, Oklahoma, California, Connecticut, Ohio, Illinois and Florida timeshare owners were being contacted. We began to suspect that the same people were setting up companies in one state, collecting money, closing down, and later reopening in another state.

We contacted a Florida State postal inspector to see if there was anything that could be done to shut down these types of operations. The inspector let us know that our efforts had paid off and that she had been successful in closing down and getting convictions of the owners and operators of two of these companies. She also told us that the FBI was getting involved since it was a Federal offense.

We are proud of our reputation and our service to timeshare owners.
